DIAMOND-SELLING reggae artiste Shaggy, pop princesses Nicki Minaj and Ciara, and the King of Soca Machel Montano are joining forces with the Urban League of Hudson County (ULOHC)for the Urban Vibe 2010 Benefit Concert on October 28. The charity concert, which will raise money and awareness for the organisation's mission of empowering residents and improving the quality of life in New Jersey's urban communities, will be held at the Prudential Center in Newark.
Hosted by New York radio personality Dahved Levy, and Terrence and Rocsi of BET's popular 106 & Park, Urban Vibe 2010 is a funky blend of pop, hip hop, R&B, reggae and soca, with a line-up that also includes soca stars Farmer Nappy and Patrice Roberts. By pulling some of the biggest names of each genre, ULOHC seeks to target Hudson County's diverse ethnic communities in support of the League's community development and human service programmes.

"Through collaboration, outreach, information and technology, the ULOHC has developed services that help level the economic playing field."
ULOHC was founded in 1971 under the mission of empowering residents and improving the quality of life in urban communities. ULOHC works in partnership with community groups, government, and corporate sponsors to provide services in the areas of education, mentorship, economic development, job placement, childcare, family counselling, and programmes for seniors. In addition, ULOHC spearheaded the establishment of the Jersey City Community Charter School, to which the State awarded a charter in 1997. Annually, ULOHC serves more than 50,000 people.
