JUST IN..Newry alert: Motorists warned of traffic disruption

Van containing bomb on Newry underpass A 500lb bomb was abandoned under an underpass on the main Belfast to Dublin Road earlier this month


Motorists are being warned to expect delays because of a security alert in Newry, County Down.
Army bomb experts have been tasked to examine a suspicious object which was found in the New Street area of the city.
A number of buildings, including Newry Courthouse, have been evacuated. Some commercial premises in the Sand Mills industrial estate have also been cleared.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
A number of roads in the area have been closed. These include: Church Avenue, New Street, Kildare Street, Trevor Hill, Basin Walk, Sugar House Quay, Canal Quay, and Erskine Street.
